Free NBA Picks For 7th March
Published on 06/03/19
It might not be the most advertised NBA game of the week but kicking off our previews and picks for Thursday should be a good game between two teams with identical win/loss records:
Miami Heat vs. Charlotte Hornets @ Spectrum Center
Past Meetings and Stats
The Hornets have won their last four games against the Heat, with the most recent coming in October last year where they won 125-113, but it’s the Heat that have been in good form of late.
Miami has won three of their last four games, with wins coming against Warriors, Nets and Hawks. All three wins were quality performances and they would have won four-straight if it wasn’t for the Rockets coming back to win 121-118.
The Hornets are going through a tough spell of three wins from their last 10 games but the talent is there. Kemba Walker is a free agent at the end of the season and he will be wanting to produce down the stretch.
Goran Dragic is listed as day-to-day for his injury and that’s key for this game.
There won’t be much between these two teams in the betting and we’re going with the Hornets in a close one. We’re expecting Walker to produce at a high level and get the job done in front of the home crowd.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Detroit Pistons @ Little Caesars Arena
Detroit is making a push for the playoffs and a win against the Timberwolves will put them above .500 with under 20 games to go in the regular season.
Past Meetings and Stats
The Pistons have dominated this matchup in recent years with a winning streak of eight games going back to 2015.
That includes an overtime win last year and although they haven’t played in 2019, a sizable cloud hangs over the head of the Timberwolves, especially with the team they have this season.
Timberwolves are 29-34 for the season and a miserable 9-24 away from home. The Pistons (19-13 at home) have been steady throughout the season and although they haven’t been able to string together many wins, they do come into this game with four wins from their last five games.
That includes wins over Heat, Pacers, Cavs and Raptors, with the latter being one of their better wins for the season. That bodes well coming into this game and the Pistons could be a sneaky pick to not only make the playoffs, but cause some of the better teams some trouble.
Confidence is supremely low with the Timberwolves right now and it would take a brave punter to bet on them at the moment.
Conversely, the Pistons are riding a good stretch as the playoffs get closer and they could return some positive results for bettors.

New York Knicks vs. Phoenix Suns @ Talking Stick Resort Arena
This might be a game between two teams which have won a combined 27 games this season, but it’s an intriguing battle between winning and losing.
Which team is playing for a higher chance of getting the No.1 draft pick? It certainly seems as though the Knicks are front runners for that title.
Past Meetings and Stats
These teams have played only once this season with the Suns winning 128-110 in December. Current form, however, goes to the Suns, which have won three of their last four.
Those wins come on the back of the media criticizing the Suns for not showing any effort and that clearly showed on the younger players in the team. Pride has now kicked into gear and they have recorded consecutive wins over the Lakers and a massive upset over the Bucks.
The Knicks are riding a three-game losing streak and it’s clear what they’re playing for. They don’t want to win and the team owners will be instructing them to tank for the rest of the season.
There’s more pride with the Suns team and they should be tough to beat in this game.
Picking a winner between the two worst NBA teams in the competition isn’t easy, especially when motivation to win isn’t at the forefront of either team.
Phoenix has definitely shown more pride in recent months and considering they took the #1 draft pick last season, they don’t necessarily need another top draft pick. They’re already guaranteed a high draft pick regardless of how many games they win for the rest of the season, so why not encourage the younger players to perform?
Losing takes its toll on the players, coaches and fans. The Suns have the resources to win in the NBA and scoring their third-straight win will no doubt boost their confidence and we’re confident that can sweep past the struggling New York Knicks.
