Our free NBA picks for Wednesday 13th February are:

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers @ Wells Fargo Center

This game would have been an absolute blockbuster had Kyrie Irving not injured his ankle last week, but it still has the potential to be a talking point this season.

The Celtics blew a massive lead against the Clippers after Irving went down on Sunday and it posed questions about the Celtics’ depth, which had been praised by critics for most of the season. That criticism is now warranted and we could expect to see the Celtics fire up without their all-star player.

Philadelphia have added pieces to their team throughout the season and they now look like a force to be reckoned with in the East. Despite only having a 36-20 record, they have recorded consecutive wins over Denver and LAL after dropping two on the bounce to the Kings and Raptors.

The big question is whether the Celtics can win without Irving but we think they’ll be keen to show everyone they can.

Past Meetings and Stats

This will be the third time the Celtics play the 76ers this season and so far it’s 2-0 to the Celtics. They scored a 105-87 win and followed that with a 121-114 win.

Despite dropping their last two games, the Celtics are still 7-3 over their last 10 games and that’s slightly better than the 6-4 record held by the home team.

Joel Embiid has been on fire for the 76ers – averaging 27.4 points per game with 13.5 rebounds. He’s a machine and someone opposing center Al Horford is going to have to keep out of the paint.
Verdict

The Celtics will be looking to improve its 13-13 record away from home and it’s not going to be easy against a fully fit 76ers outfit, but they could make this a close game.

Bookmakers have the line set at 6 and given how desperate Boston will be to win this game for their fallen superstar, they just might show a little extra.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Memphis Grizzles @ FedEx Forum

Let’s be honest… neither team has been overly impressive this season but at least the Spurs have a winning record of 32-26. The same can’t be said for the Grizzlies, which are struggling for any traction at 23-34.

This game won’t be season-changing for either side but there is always money to be made with NBA betting and there’s a good betting opportunity facing bettors here.

The biggest storyline for the Spurs this season was the trade of Kawhi Leonard to the Raptors. In return the Spurs received DeMar DeRozan, who hasn’t been in dynamic scoring form with 21.6 points per game but he’s doing enough to keep fans happy.

Spurs are riding a four-game losing streak where they haven’t looked like winning but that could all change on their fifth consecutive road game.

Past Meetings and Stats

This will be the fourth meeting between the Spurs and Grizzles this season with the Grizz holding a 2-1 advantage.

It was a close game to kick off the series with the Grizz winning 104-103 but the next two games have been lob-sided results for both teams. Spurs won Game 2 by 20 points and Grizzles won Game 3 by 10.

Statistically, the Spurs score one point more on offense than they allow on defense. The Grizz average three points less on offense than they give up on defense. That’s not helped by some injury problems but the Grizzles have still managed to win three of their last five games.

Spurs have been dealt to recently, giving up totals of 127, 141, 127 and 125. That won’t make coach Gregg Popovich happy and we should see a turnaround here.

Verdict

The Spurs don’t often lose five games in a row and it’s tough to see that happening here. Coach Popovich will be steaming inside the locker room and expect that to be enough for the Spurs to show some effort on the defensive end.

Utah Jazz vs. Golden State Warriors @ Oracle Arena

It’s always an exciting game when these two teams meet and although the Jazz aren’t as good this year as they were last year, this should still be a great NBA game to watch.

Both teams enter this game in form and with a plethora of superstars on show, it’s a must-watch game this week.

Past Meetings

The series is split at 1-1 after the Warriors won 124-123 and then the Jazz kicked back with a 108-103 victory.

There isn’t much between these two teams when they face each other and Utah is fully fit, unlike the Warriors which are missing Andre Iguodala and a couple of bench players.

That being said, they still have the best roster on the planet and by some margin. Warriors have successfully slotted in Demarcus Cousins nicely and it hasn’t taken him long to find his rhythm.

Verdict

Due to past results this season, the Jazz should be able to keep this one close. It’s tough to bet against the Warriors but bookmakers are giving the Jazz eight points and that’s significant.
