Bryce Harper returns to Washington after leaving for Philadelphia in the off-season and the crowd action could be just as exciting as the game.

Will the Nationals’ fans cheer Harper? Or they will they show no remorse and boo their former star player?

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Washington Nationals @ Nationals Park

Past Meetings And Form

It couldn’t have been a better start for the Phillies, which have won all three games and now start what should be a heated series against the Nationals.

Philadelphia has beaten the Atlanta Braves in all three games of their opening series, scoring a total of 23 runs and giving up only 11. That’s a good start from the team many have predicted to go deep in the MLB playoffs with the help of Harper this season.

For the Nationals, life without Harper could be tough and a 1-2 start has been an average start. They won their last game against the Mets 6-5, but dropped the first two 2-0 and 11-8 respectively.

Victor Robles is the next big thing and the center fielder has an average of .455 to start the season. He’s Harper’s replacement and he’s doing a nice job so far.

In the Nationals’ favor is having CY Young Award winner Max Scherzer on the mount.

Verdict

We don’t have any doubts that Philadelphia are the better team this year, especially in the hitting lineup, but the Nationals have Max on the mount and that typically makes a difference.

This will also be the first road game for Philadelphia and we’re not surprised to see bookmakers open the head-to-head line in Washington’s favor.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Toronto Blue Jays @ Rogers Center

It’s only early in the season but the Orioles have already caused a couple of upsets. That makes for an intriguing game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Past Meetings And Form

This season was not projected to go well for the Baltimore Orioles and after dropping their first game 7-2 to the Yankees it was all going as planned, but consecutive wins have righted the ship.

Baltimore caused back-to-back upset victories over the Yankees, winning 5-3 and 7-5 respectively. Those wins were not expected and it shows, despite trading most of their star players, the Orioles won’t die quietly this season.

They now face the Blue Jays, which scored consecutive wins after losing their season opener against Detroit.

They gave up 0 runs in those wins and only six in their two losses. It’s a good start for the club and it shows their starting pitching has come to play.

Getting the ball on Tuesday for the Blue Jays is Marcus Stroman, who started the season with a strong outing. The team lost 2-0 but Stroman threw seven scoreless innings and allowed only two hits.

Baltimore’s Andrew Cashman was not so lucky, going four innings against the Yankees and giving up six hits with an ERA of 13.5.

Verdict

We like what Baltimore has done offensively this season but Toronto has yet to leave home and that comfortable environment is only going to help their chances.

The Orioles have yet to play at home and they will be sick of travelling to start the season.
Ultimately, Blue Jays have better pitching and they should come away with the win.

Houston Astros vs Texas Rangers @ Globe Life Park

The all-Texas showdown kicks off with the Astros visiting the Texas Rangers on Tuesday.

Past Meetings And Form

The Rangers lost their opening game of the season to the Cubs before rebounding with consecutive wins. They outlasted the Cubs 11-10 last time on the field and that should give them plenty of confidence as they welcome the Astros.

Houston scored a 5-1 win over Tampa Bay to start a four-game series with the Florida-based team, but they looked fairly average in losing their next three.

They scored only four runs in those three losses and although they gave up only 10 runs, it wasn’t good enough to win.

In their favor this Tuesday is having Justin Verlander on the mount. Verlander is 1-0 on the season when giving up only three hits from seven innings of work on Opening Day.

He could be the difference but if Texas can hit the long ball against him early in the game, the momentum will shift dramatically.

Verdict

The result of this game relies heavily on how long Justin Verlander stays in the game for the Houston Astros. If he starts well, then the Rangers could be out of options late in the game.

The key to victory for the Rangers is to get to Verlander early but we’re not sure they will have the firepower to do so.
