Greyhound punters have plenty to get stuck into this weekend with Sunderland and Romford live on Racing Post Greyhound TV tonight, Crayford and Newcastle tomorrow and Henlow on Sunday.
RPGTV is also live on Sunday afternoon at 1pm for the 2015 William Hill Greyhound Derby draw. The Derby itself gets underway next Wednesday with all the first round heats live on RPGTV – it should be a cracker!
The feature race this evening is the Follow @Coral On Twitter standard open race at 10.11. Laughing Gravy the 2014 Romford Pupy Cup winner is sure to prove popular from T6 as the solo wide seed but with plenty of pace in this race the David Pruhs trained son of Head Bound will need to be foot perfect at the traps to clear and lead round. Dower Matt (T3) has been in flying form of late and if the early paced railer was to ping this evening he would be the one to beat from this draw. Sneezys Rose (T1) and Bantam (T4) are more than capable on a going day but will need to break in best fashion to lead this field. As ever at Romford its all on the break.
The PGT Free Friday Tip is Corrin Bob from T1 in the 9.40 Maiden open race over the six bend 575 meter trip. The lightly raced runner from the Gaskin kennel ran with credit on six bend debut last Friday and caught the eye showing decent middle pace to challenge at the fifth bend where he found trouble. The race this evening looks wide open and if our seleciton can hold the rails into the first corner and lead round it’s race on at decent odds.
PGT FREE FRIDAY TIP – CORRIN BOB – 9.40 ROMFORD
Over at Sunderland as ever its a very competitive graded card, the quality of the racing is decent tonight with three A1 graded races on the card plus a couple of A2 races. One that could be worth watching in the betting is Redwood Rooster from T1 in the final race on the card the 10.35. Redwood Rooster returned to the track last week and ran very well and hinted that a victory was just around the corner – the strong staying railer would be a danger to all if turning handy this evening and is sure to prove popular with the punters.
Saturday – Newcastle & Crayford live on RPGTV
We have some decent action to work out on Saturday evening with mixed cards from both venues, eight opens in total add that bit of class and compliments the graded aciton nicely. The feature race from Crayford is the Ladbrokes Stayers Hurdle Final at 9.24 which looks a very competitive event with many in with realistic chances of landing the £500 prize money. Soviet Military is sure to prove popular as the solo wide seed and the Ricky Holloway trained seasoned hurdle campaigner will be the one to beat with a level break. Razldazl Butch (T2) looks likely to lead at the rails and could give Soviet Military most to do around the first couple of bends. Razldazl Bigbear (T1) will be staying on well and would be a danger to all if within striking distance off the last bend.
Sunday – Henlow live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
As ever on a Sunday evening we have Henlow live on RPGTV. The action gets underway at 6.30pm live on Sky channel 212 and via the Racing Post website. Five open races and eight graded races for us to try and work out and as ever at lot will be decided by the prices on offer from the bookmakers. One that looks likely to go well and has a cracking chance but could start very short come Sunday evening is Westmean Jacko from T6 in the 9.11 Maiden open over the six bend 550 meter trip. The Nick Savva trained youngster caught the eye last week when staying on well over the standard 460 meter trip – now stepped up to six bends for the first time the son of Westmead Logan will be very hard to beat. As ever the price will make or break whether Westmead Jacko is worth a bet on Sunday evening.
Don’t forget to check out the 2015 William Hill Greyhound Derby draw which is live on RPGTV from 1pm on Sunday afternoon.
