Current Premier League champions, Chelsea, have been recently said to be interested in acquiring the services of Leicester city star, Jamie Vardy, with Ladbrokes backing this transfer by making him 6/4 odds to join.
This tells us that he’s incredibly more likely to move to the capital and join the blues than Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero (8/1) and Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (10/1), whom both previously have been targets.
A spokesman for Ladbrokes, Alex Apati, has said: “This one really has come out of nowhere, but with Chelsea in desperate need of some added firepower up top, we’re taking no chances”
Vardy has since recovered from a foot injury, but didn’t feature in last night’s fixture against Sheffield United.
With Diego Costa having been shut out of the Chelsea squad by Antonio Conte, it is unsurprising that the champions have shown interest in the Leicester City forward. Vardy was hailed as the premier league’s best striker in the season of 2015/16, and although was disappointing last season, he has rediscovered his goal scoring form by scoring a brace against Arsenal. A premier league proven striker indeed, just what the champions need.
Following Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over rivals Spurs, Conte added “The club is trying its best in the transfer market to improve our squad but I must be happy”
“We only have to think on the pitch and not to give answers to people”
“This moment is not easy for us but I am very happy to have this group of players because they showed me great commitment, desire and will to improve after a great season”
“We only need to focus on the pitch; outside does not matter for us”
Chelsea play Everton at Home this weekend, maybe then it will be evident if a new striker is needed or not.
Fancy Chelsea to beat Everton this weekend?
They’re 4/9 with BetVictor and Black Type.
