The Manchester Derby – Premier League Betting

Football action returns to the Premier League this week, thanks god, and my lunchtime spot in the local has already been booked for the Manchester Derby. It will be interesting to see whether United, City or both lose their 100% record, and we’ve analysis and tips for that match, Arsenal vs Southampton, West Ham vs Watford, Stoke vs Spurs, and Liverpool vs Leicester.

Manchester Derby

Manchester United vs Manchester City (Saturday 12.30)

Last year’s renewal may have ended 0-0, but that was the only draw between the Premier League’s biggest and bitterest rivals in their last 10 encounters. Prior to that, United won 4-2 the previous season, whilst City won the three previous renewals 3-0, 2-1 and 6-1. City have also looked slightly more impressive in their 100% start with dominant performances against West Ham and Stoke, and they look the value.

Manchester City @ 12/5

Arsenal vs Southampton (Saturday 3.00)

Southampton have a good home record against Arsenal, but have took just 1 point from their last four Premier League games at the Emirates. Hope for the Saints comes from Arsenal starting slowly, but the Gunners warmed to their task with victory away at Watford last time, and Saints only managed a home draw against Watford – and 4/7 for an Arsenal victory looks big enough.

Arsenal @ 4/7

West Ham vs Watford (Saturday 3.00)

Both teams have had a tough start, with West Ham losing to Manchester City and Chelsea, and Watford losing to Arsenal and Chelsea. However, West Ham played both of those games away from home, whilst Watford squandered home advantage. West Ham also won last year’s fixture 3-1, and 10/11 for a home win s more than fair.

West Ham @ 10/11

Stoke vs Spurs (Saturday 3.00)

Stoke will be disappointed with their start after a good finish to last season, whilst Spurs have made the most predictable start to the season with draws against Liverpool and Everton, and victory over Crystal Palace, though have only scored one goal in each game. Stoke won’t be looking forward to this one though, as they’ve lost 3 of the last 4, making Spurs look about right at a shade of odds-on.

Spurs @ 11/13

Liverpool vs Leicester (Saturday 5.30)

Leicester have been written off by the bookies again after a sluggish start, and 4/6 for a Liverpool side who managed to lose to Burnley looks way too short. Leicester’s loss to Hull was also poor, but a draw against Arsenal and a victory over Swansea since certainly doesn’t make them 9/2 shots. However, the value may well be the draw, as one of the last two renewals ended-up as a draw.

Draw @ 13/4
