Premier League Weekend Football Tips

After what was a somewhat predictable weekend of action in the Premier League, with all of those battling it out at the top of the table picking up three points, the next seven days could well provide some closer encounters, as the season continues to draw nearer its completion. With Arsenal taking on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night, before both Champions League and Europa League ties dominate proceedings, fixtures on Saturday and Sunday are set to have a significant bearing on positions come the end of the campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur vs AFC Bournemouth – Sat 15th April 12:30

Having seen off neighbours Watford with ease on Saturday lunchtime, Tottenham once again get proceedings underway at the weekend, this time welcoming Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth to White Hart Lane. Harry Kane returned in the latter stages against the Hornets, with Mauricio Pochettino likely to hand the England man a first start since picking up an injury against Millwall. Spurs remain seven points behind leaders Chelsea, however the Lilywhites still hold hope of lifting the Premier League trophy. As for Bournemouth, despite looking safe from relegation with six games remaining, the Cherries will be looking for a first win in four in North London.

Crystal Palace vs Leicester City – Sat 15th April 15:00

Palace remain in a strong position at the bottom, with Sam Allardyce’s men currently three points clear of the button three, as well as holding a game in hand over their closest rivals. Meanwhile, despite their entertaining defeat at Goodison Park, Leicester remain comfortably in mid-table, six points clear of the relegation zone. Both Christian Benteke and Jamie Vardy have returned to goal scoring form after tough starts to the campaign, with the duo set to be the biggest attacking threats on show in South London.

Everton vs Burnley – Sat 15th April 15:00

Romelu Lukaku scored his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season against Leicester, helping to move Everton level on points with Arsenal, before the Gunners game on Monday night. Having only lost one of their last five, Ronal Koeman’s men will be the strong favourites to collect another three points on home turf, with a Burnley side who are struggling for goals visiting Goodison Park.

Stoke City vs Hull City – Sat 15th April 15:00

Given the fact that Stoke have lost their last four Premier League fixtures, as well as the fact that Hull are battling for their lives at the bottom of the table, this could well be one of the tightest encounters of the weekend. Mark Hughes’ men showed plenty of attacking threat against Liverpool last time around, however Marco Silva has ensured that the Tigers are much more difficult to break down than at the start of the season.

Sunderland vs West Ham United – Sat 15th April 15:00

Another defeat for Sunderland against Manchester United on Sunday means that Sunderland remain eight points from safety, with David Moyes now coming to terms with life in the Championship next year. As for the Hammers, Slaven Bilic will have been relieved to have ended a run of five consecutive defeats following a narrow win over Swansea, however the Croatian will be without the injured Michail Antonio and suspended Mark Noble at the Stadium of Light.

Watford vs Swansea City – Sat 15th April 15:00

The home side will be looking to bounce back from a hammering at White Hart Lane last time around, with captain Troy Deeney likely to return to the starting line-up at Vicarage Road. Swansea remained in the bottom three after defeat at the Olympic Stadium, with Paul Clement now without a win in five in charge of the South Wales based side. Spaniard Fernando Llorente could well feature from the start following injury, with the Swans in desperate need of a positive result in North London.

Southampton vs Manchester City – Sat 15th April 17:30

The Saints earned a rare away win at the Hawthorns on Saturday, with Claude Puel’s men looking to end the season as strongly as possible. Manchester City are still facing a battle to qualify for the Champions League, with the form of Sergio Aguero helping them to a first win in five at the Etihad Stadium against Hull City last time around. While Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester City, the Spaniard will be 100% focused upon their trip to the South coast, with the Blues just four points clear of rivals Manchester United.

West Bromwich Albion vs Liverpool – Sun 16th April 13:30

Liverpool produced a comeback victory against Stoke to significantly aid their prospects of finishing in the top four, with both Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino likely to come back into the starting eleven, having started the game at the Britannia on the bench, before both scoring following their introduction. The Baggies suffered a second successive defeat against Southampton last time out, with Solomon Rondon continuing to struggle in front of goal.

Manchester United vs Chelsea – Sun 16th April 16:00

Despite an 18-point gap between the duo, any fixture involving Manchester United and Chelsea is likely to produce a whole host of talking points, with Jose Mourinho’s men hoping to gain revenge for their heavy defeat at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season. Despite extending their unbeaten run with victory over Sunderland, United have drawn ten of their last 20 Premier League matches, with their form at Old Trafford of particular concern for supporters. However, with Zlatan Ibrahimović and Paul Pogba having recently returned from suspension and injury respectively, the duo could inspire a famous home victory. As for the league leaders, Eden Hazard continued his sparkling form over recent weeks against Bournemouth, with the Belgian set to once again be the main threat for Antonio Conte’s men.
