Free Premier League Tips For Easter Weekend

Manchester City may have been rocked by their Champions League exit at the hands of Tottenham on Wednesday night, but they’ll need to recover quickly as they face Tottenham again in the Premier League in Saturday’s lunchtime match.

There’s also an important clash in the battle to avoid relegation, with Newcastle entertaining Southampton at St James’s Park. Brighton will also be desperate for a positive result at Wolves, as last week’s defeat by Cardiff leaves them in real danger of facing the dreaded drop into the Championship next season.

Check out our stats, analysis, and free tips for Easter Saturday’s Premier League matches.

Manchester City vs Tottenham (12.30)

Manchester City and Tottenham took part in what was, arguably, the most entertaining match of the season so far on Wednesday night, as both teams gave their all in seven-goal thriller to try and progress to the Champions League semi-finals. City won the match, but Tottenham won the war as they went through courtesy of the away-goals rule.

The stakes for Saturday’s match may not be as high, but they’re not much lower. City desperately need a win to keep the destiny of the Premier League Title firmly in their own hands, but Tottenham can’t afford to slip-up either as, if they don’t win this year’s Champions League, they will have to finish third or fourth in the Premier League to book a spot in next year’s.

The big question is, will both teams stick to Wednesday’s game-plan of all-out-attack, or will more emphasis be put on defence this time. The pair have each managed a 1-0 win against each other in the last six-months but, more interestingly, the last three head-to-heads at the Etihad have finished 2-2, 4-1, and 4-3, suggesting there will again be plenty of goals. It’s slight odds-against for more than 3.5 goals and that looks the percentage call.

Wolves vs Brighton (3.00)

Brighton’s form is in freefall at the wrong time of the season and, the way the Seagulls have been playing, they can only hope that Cardiff fail to pick up a significant amount of points from their final four games.

Brighton have lost their last four games without scoring a single goal, and the three of those have been home games against fellow strugglers Cardiff, Bournemouth, and Southampton.

Manager Chris Hughton can at least try and motivate his team by saying they’ve already beaten Wolves once this season, whilst there’s just a chance that Wolves will struggle to pick themselves up for their last few games after missing out on a spot in the FA Cup Final.

I confess I don’t fancy Brighton strongly but, as they have much more at stake and have beaten Wolves already this season, they may just be a bit of value at anything around 5/1.

Newcastle vs Southampton (5.30)

The magic total of 38 points needed for Premier League survival is often talked about, and either Newcastle or Southampton will reach it this weekend. Newcastle only need a draw but Southampton will be hoping to collect all three points to make it extremely hard for the teams below them, Brighton and Cardiff, to catch them.

Newcastle bounced back from two defeats with a surprise away win against an in-form Leicester side last time, but that’s their only goal in their last three games.

Southampton’s form is also a little hit and miss, but four wins in seven matches is a good haul, especially considering their three defeats in that run came against Liverpool Manchester United, and Arsenal. Southampton have also scored in their last six matches and, having improved since this season’s 0-0 draw against Newcastle at St Mary’s, they could sneak this and move above Newcastle in the table.
