Football Betting Tips: Magpies Can Dodge Gunners’ Bullets

As predicted in last week’s blog, the Premier League got a little more interesting last weekend as both Manchester clubs closed the gap between them and Chelsea. Three winners out of four selections gave us a 16 point profit, and we’re hopeful that this week’s football betting tips will prove equally as profitable.

This week, Chelsea and Man City are expected to have no problems taking maximum points, whilst Man United must keep their slender title aspirations alive by defeating Liverpool.

Meanwhile, the bookies seemed to be taking no notice of Newcastle’s current run of form, and their game against Arsenal is definitely the game that warrants the closest scrutiny.

Arsenal vs Newcastle

On recent form, the prices are hard to fathom with Arsenal a best-priced 5/11, the draw 15/4 and Newcastle 15/2. The pair currently sit 6th and 7th in the premier League, equal on points, be it that Arsenal have a superior goal difference.

Arsenal have won three, drawn three and lost one of their home games this season, whilst current form has seen them lose three of their last five Premier League games.

Newcastle’s away record is two wins, three draws and three defeats, though they have lost just once in their last nine Premier League games, which include wins over Chelsea and Liverpool.

Past matches between the pair shed a little more light on the bookies reasoning though, as Arsenal have won the last five meetings between the clubs, however many of the current Newcastle players weren’t part of those games.

The 15/2 about Newcastle is very tempting, but the overall value is probably to lay Arsenal at 1.49

5 points Lay Arsenal @ 1.49

Manchester United vs Liverpool

Liverpool’s 3-0 victory in last year’s corresponding fixture ended a six-game losing run at Old Trafford (4 premier league, 2 Cup), however Liverpool were flying high last season and benefitted from two Steven Gerrard penalties and a late Suarez goal.

Without Suarez, this season they sit just 9th in the table and have recorded just three victories on their travels.

Meanwhile, the new look United side may not have quite reached the heights it first promised, but they have climbed to 3rd in the table after five successive victories.

The 10/11 that they make it six successive victories looks perfectly acceptable, whilst having won three of their last five games 2-1 it looks worth chancing them to do so again.

5 points Man United @ 10/11

1 point Man United 2-1 @ 8/1.

Big Hitters Double

Everton are 7/15 to defeat a QPR side that has lost all its away games this season, whilst Man City are 8/15 to beat a struggling Leicester side whom they beat 3-1 in the corresponding fixture last season.

5 points double: Everton @ 5/11 and Man City @ 8/15
