Euro 2016 Matches Sat 11th June
The second day of the Euro 2016 tournament kicks-off with the second Group A match Albania vs Switzerland, whilst it’s then the turn of Group B with first-up Wales vs Slovakia, then England vs Russia – and we’ve tried to pick the best bet for each match for you.
Albania vs Switzerland (2pm)
Match Betting Best Odds: Albania 63/13, Draw 29/12, Switzerland 13/15
Neither team has overly impressed in recent friendlies, but it was Switzerland who impressed more in qualifying. That’s not to say they looked like world-beaters, as they were soundly beaten by England twice. However, Albania averaged just 0.88 goals a game in qualifying, and were lucky to be awarded 3 points because of a brawl during their match in Serbia, and to grab 3 points from an understrength Portugal. Meanwhile, Switzerland have a superior head-to-head record against the Albanians, winning both legs of their matches in the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign, whilst the last time they met before that was in the 2004 European Championship Qualifying stages, when they won the home leg and drew the away leg. The 13/15 for a Swiss victory looks fair value, though the 31/20 for them to win to nil is more tempting.
Switzerland to win to nil @ 31/20 (Boylesports)
Wales Vs Slovakia (5pm)
Match Betting Best Prices: Wales 37/19, Draw 2/1, Slovakia 23/12
It’s fair to say that Wales defended for their lives in qualifying, and relied on the attacking prowess of Gareth Bale, whilst the Slovakians look to have a more balanced side. The pair have met twice before, in the 2008 European Championships Qualifying, and we can only hope that this game is a repeat of those goal-fests when, amazingly, Wales beat Slovakia in Slovakia 5-2, and Slovakia beat Wales in Wales 5-1. There have also been plenty of goals in both team’s recent friendlies, with 5 of their 8 games producing 3 goals or more. It’s 15/8 for there to be more than 2.5 goals – and that will do for me.
More than 2.5 goals @ 15/8 (Betbright)
England Vs Russia (8pm)
England 19/20, Draw 27/11, Russia 50/13
I don’t know what it is about the big football tournaments but, when the time arrives, I can’t help but buy myself an England shirt, fill the fridge with beer, and get extremely jingoistic – so come on England! However, it’s best not to get to carried away, as both sides won their home games last time they met in the 2008 European Championships Qualifying stage. I’ll be cheering England on with the heart but, with Russia scoring in their last 10 games, and England scoring in 9 of their last 10 games, the head says the 10/9 both teams to score has to be the bet.
Both teams to score @ 10/9 (Marathon Bet)
