English Football Preview & Tips

After two enthralling FA Cup Semi-Final ties, in which London duo Chelsea and Arsenal made it through to the at Wembley, along with the drama and excitement of the Premier League, action continues in the top-flight this week, with both midweek and weekend fixtures to look forward to. Both Chelsea and Tottenham return to action as they both bid for the title, while the Manchester derby on Thursday now holds more significance, with both Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho still chasing a spot in the top four. The battle at the bottom continues, with the battle between Hull City and Swansea City now looking like finalising the bottom three come the end of the season.

Arsenal vs Leicester City – Weds 26th @ 19:45

Another team who came away from Wembley on a high was Arsenal, with the Gunners returning to the Emirates in a positive mood, following months of despair for supporters. With Arsene Wenger’s men now seven point away from the top four, Arsenal’s encounter with in-form Leicester City is a must win. The Foxes have won three from their last five, with Craig Shakespeare hoping for another win, which would all-but secure their safety in terms of relegation.

Middlesbrough vs Sunderland – Weds 26th @ 19:45

With Sunderland needing a miracle to steer clear of relegation this season, David Moyes’ men will be looking to compound yet more misery on neighbours Boro, with the duo having won just nine Premier League games between them all season. Christian Benteke scored both goals against his former side, with the Belgian international hoping to continue his fine form against London rivals Spurs. The North Londoners are hoping to recover from their defeat at Wembley with a vital three points at Selhurst Park, with Dele Alli having secured the Young Player of the Year Award for the second consecutive year on Sunday night.

Just a single point separates the duo heading into Thursday’s encounter, with Guardiola and Mourinho coming head-to-head once again at the Etihad. While United are seemingly more focused upon the Europa League, they will still be confident of producing against their fierce rivals.

The Hammers have shown signs of improvement over recent weeks, holding in-form Everton to a goalless draw at the Olympic Stadium last time out.
