Diego Costa Finally Let Go By Chelsea

Chelsea and Spanish national Striker, Diego Costa, has finally seen his desire to move back to Atletico Madrid granted, as a deal has been agreed for him to move back to the Spanish capital in the January transfer window.

Costa had been one of the best players for Chelsea, being fundamental in their two title winning campaigns over the past three seasons. The controversial, yet world class forward had scored 20 league goals and was included in so much more last season.

Despite his success as a striker for Chelsea, Costa failed to return to the club after being sent a massage by club manager, Antonio Conte, at the end of last season, which suggested that the striker was no longer in the managers future.

Problems between the manager and player seemed to have arose last January, when it was reported that the pair had a massive row during training, regarding the fitness of the player. Conte, who takes pride in keeping his players as fit as possible, sparked interest from China, as a big money deal was being talked about in the press. Despite the massive bust up, Costa stayed and helped Chelsea win the title.

During the final few fixtures of the season, it became apparent that Costa’s form had dropped, along with his fitness, which proved as a catalyst for him to be axed by the manager.

Since that message was sent, and ended up going viral, talks between the players agent and former club, Atletico Madrid, began. Due to Atletico’s transfer ban, a deal could only be agreed for January, much to the dismay of Chelsea, who wanted the player out of the club as soon as possible.

In a statement on their official club website, Chelsea have announced:

“Chelsea Football Club has today agreed terms with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Diego Costa.

“The transfer will be subject to the agreement of personal terms and a medical.”

The deal will reach a fee of almost £58m, and it will see the player earn the same salary as what he was on whilst being at Chelsea, £150,000.
