Plenty of great Premier League action to look forward to this weekend as Southampton aim to retain second spot as they host third-placed Manchester City.
Meanwhile Newcastle will be hoping to maintain their push for a European place next season with a sixth straight victory, whilst both Manchester United and Chelsea are looking to extend some already impressive records against lower-level opposition – and we’ve got a football tip for all those top matches.
Southampton vs Manchester City
Since Southampton returned to the Premier League two seasons ago, they’ve yet to lose this fixture, drawing 1-1 last season and winning 3-1 the previous season. They’ve also won their last five games at home, conceding only one goal in the process, and only two goals in seven home games in total.
Meanwhile, City may have defeated Bayern Munich on Tuesday, but have failed to win either of their last two away games against QPR (drew) and West ham (lost).
Of course, as was obvious by their defeat of Bayern, City have the class to beat most teams on the planet, but in the hope they may struggle to raise their motivation for this lesser game – Southampton to win looks the value. With five clean sheets in seven home games, the 11/2 to win to nil also looks worth a punt.
1 point Southampton @ 23/10
1 point Southampton to win to nil @ 11/2
West Ham vs Newcastle
Both teams are currently performing above their station in respectively 6th and 5th place in the Premier League but Newcastle, after five straight Premier league wins, look fantastic value at 11/4 against a West Ham side that has claimed just two points from their last three games. Throw in the fact that the last three corresponding fixtures have produced two Newcastle wins and a draw – and Newcastle again look the best bet of the weekend.
4 points Newcastle @ 11/4
Manchester United vs Hull
Manchester United have won all six of their Premier League games against Hull City and really should be good enough to make it seven as Hull have lost their last three games and have managed to score just one goal in their last four games.
Sunderland vs Chelsea
Despite losing to Sunderland twice last season (at Stamford Bridge and in the League Cup), Chelsea have won this corresponding fixture on the last nine occasions – and should be able to make it ten. However, both teams have scored in eight of those nine games, making the 13/5 for that to happen again look great value.
Double: Manchester United @ 1/3 and Chelsea to win and both teams to score @ 13/5
