Chelsea travel to Liverpool on Saturday, and Jose Mourinho will be keen for his side to avoid conceding a late goal like they did at both Manchester clubs.
Meanwhile Man United, Man City and Southampton are all odds on to keep alive their title aspirations, whilst Newcastle will be hoping to chalk up a fourth straight Premier league win and jump into the top-half of the table.
Here are our football betting tips for all those matches:
Liverpool vs Chelsea
The last five corresponding fixtures are a mixed bag with two wins a piece and one draw: 0-2, 2-2, 4-1, 2-0 and 0-2. However, despite Liverpool finishing two points in front of Chelsea last season, the return of Mourinho saw Chelsea complete the double over their rivals. Since then, it’s hard to argue that Liverpool are as good without Suarez, whilst the new look Chelsea outfit is carrying all before it. Odds against for Chelsea look well worth taking.
Surprisingly, Chelsea haven’t scored more than two goals in any of their last five Premier League games, whilst Liverpool haven’t hit the net in their last two games, and backing Chelsea to win 1-0 and 2-0 looks the call.
5 points Chelsea @ 15/13
1 point Chelsea 1-0 @ 8/1
1 point Chelsea 2-0 @ 11/1
West Brom vs Newcastle
The Baggies have won three of their last four home fixtures against the Magpies, and currently sit one place above them in the table, on goal difference. Newcastle have won their last three games though after a slow start, and currently look the better team, so I’m surprised they’re trading as high as 12/5. West Brom aren’t in bad form either though having won their last game away at Leicester and drawn their previous two – and laying them at 2.32 on Betfair may be a better value play.
West Brom have also scored in their last four games, Newcastle have scored in their last three, and both teams have scored in 11 of the last 12 games between the sides. 4/5 for them both to score again looks worth backing.
Lay West Brom @ 2.32
Both teams to score @ 4/5
Manchester United (1/3) have won all five of the Premier league home fixtures against Crystal Palace, whilst Southampton (1/2) should have far too much for Leicester on current form. And the even-money the double looks well worth investing in.
It was tempting to throw Man City in and make it a treble, but they lost at QPR last year when in much better form.
