Many, many people are looking for the magic bullet on how to make money betting on football.
I can understand why… you get to watch football and actually get paid for doing it.
It sounds wonderful, like the perfect life but let me start out by saying there is no magic bullet, no single holy grail of a strategy that if you apply it you instantly make money forever.
If this existed everyone would be doing it, but instead most people are losing money when betting on football.
This reality of many people losing money when betting on football does not need to be the case for you. Contrary to what many may tell you, using phrases such as, “gambling is for mugs!” making money on football is a very attainable goal. You just have to be ready to put in some work and remain disciplined.
The single biggest skill to remain profitable while betting on football is managing your money correctly. If you have £1,000 to bet with, don’t go putting on £500 bets. You will never get all your bets right so why risk such a large amount.
You must devise a plan of what percentage of your capital you will risk on every bet and NEVER break that rule. (As a side note, all Betting Gods service advise a betting bank – specified on the tipster’s individual page and within all welcome emails)
Another huge point to keep in mind is to never chase loses. If you put a bet on at the start of the game and it’s not going well, DO NOT put an opposing bet on to cover your loses. Just accept the loss and move on to the next game. This also applies to other games.
If you have lost a lot of money in a particular day, don’t suddenly put a bet on another game that you hadn’t planned on just because it is an opportunity to win some money back. You may win some of these bets but there is a reason you wouldn’t have put them on otherwise. They were not part of your initial plan, they do not fit your strategy.
NEVER change your strategy just to win money back – it won’t happen!
Other than these two points just remain disciplined. Don’t put a bet on simply for the sake of it or because you want the rush of placing bets. If this is what you want then that is fine, but please do not lie to yourself that you are trying to make money. You are just gambling.
If you want to make money, stick to your strategy. What if there isn’t a game on this weekend that fits your strategies criteria? Then just watch the games and enjoy but don’t place a bet.
It’s that discipline that will keep you in the black for your entire betting career.
