The FA Cup is down to 16-teams and, with none of the remaining 8 Premier League teams drawn against each other, I’m surprised there hasn’t been a few rumours about the draw being fixed. However, that does leave us with the exciting prospect of a juicy FA Cup Acca – so it’s time to see which teams to put IN and which teams to BIN.
Burnley vs Lincoln (Saturday 12.30)
Burnley’s home form makes them a no-brainer for any acca this weekend, as they’ve beaten many more high-class teams at home this season – IN!
Middlesbrough vs Oxford (Saturday 3.00)
Goal-shy Middlesbrough might not find this as easy as it should be, as Oxford had won 5 on the trot before a 2-0 defeat to Southend, keeping 3 clean-sheets in those 6 games. The Relegation Battle is also heaping pressure on Middlesbrough and, though they should win, I’m not sure I want them in my acca – BIN!
Huddersfield vs Man City (Saturday 3.00)
Manchester City have found their away form in some style recently, winning their last five 2-0, 4-0. 3-0, 5-0 and 3-0. Huddersfield are unbeaten at home in the Championship since November, but City should be too strong – IN!
Millwall vs Leicester (Saturday 3.00)
Leicester’s poor run of form sees them plummeting towards relegation and, with Millwall unbeaten in their last 8, even 6/4 can’t tempt me to put Leicester in this weekend’s acca – BIN!
Wolves vs Chelsea (Saturday 5.30)
Wolves may have beaten Liverpool away from home in the last round, but two home defeats against Wigan and Newcastle suggest they’re going to be vulnerable to a Chelsea side who have been beating non-top-6 Premier League Teams with great regularity this season. Chelsea – IN!
Fulham vs Tottenham (Sunday 2.00)
Tottenham’s season is starting to unravel a bit with defeats by Liverpool and KAA Gent, however they’ve still got plenty of class against poor opposition, and have beaten Southampton and Watford 4-1 away from home in recent weeks. That form should be too good for Fulham who, despite having a decent home record, did lose to Brighton at home the last time they faced higher-placed opposition. Tottenham – IN!
Blackburn vs Manchester United (Sunday 4.15)
The FA Cup is a big target for Manchester United this season, and they should be able to overcome Blackburn without too much fuss – IN!
Sutton United vs Arsenal (Monday 7.55)
Dreams are what the FA Cup is all about for smaller clubs, and I doubt any of the Arsenal Players will have even heard of Sutton United. The Arsenal players may well struggle for motivation and, with the home team desperate for a replay at the Emirates, stranger things have happened. Arsenal – BIN!
FA Cup Last-16 Acca
That leaves us with an FA Cup Acca of Burnley, Man city, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United
