Spain and Croatia can book their passage from Group D into the knockout stages with respective victories against Turkey and the Czech Republic on Friday, whilst Italy will be looking to build on an impressive first performance against Belgium by booking their place in the next round with victory against Sweden.

Euro 2016Italy vs Sweden (2pm)

Match Betting: Italy 9/10, Draw 5/2, Sweden

Sweden, perhaps surprisingly, have the best head-to-head record of the two with 5 wins compared to Italy’s 3 wins. However, none of those matches took place this century, so they may prove irrelevant. Of the two teams, it was Italy who definitely made more of an impact in their first Euro 2016 match, beating the better-fancied Belgium 2-0, whilst Sweden’s 1-1 draw with the Republic of Ireland was probably a big disappointment to the Swedes. It’s actually been a while since Sweden played a team of the calibre of Italy, and the Italians worked very hard for each other against Belgium – and should have the class to guarantee their place in the knockout stages by winning this.

Euro 2016Croatia vs Czech Republic (5pm)

Match Betting: Croatia 13/15, Draw 13/5, Czech Republic 54/13

Croatia made it 7 wins and a draw from their last 8 games when beating an in-form Turkey side 1-0 in their opening game, and that was also their sixth win to nil in those games. Meanwhile, the Czech Republic suffered their third defeat in 6 games when losing 1-0 Spain. The Czechs will have to win this to have a good chance of qualifying for the knockout stages, but whether they’re good enough to breakdown the men Croatian defence is another matter. Croatia will also enjoy the space this creates and should be able to exploit it – making the 15/8 for Croatia to win to nil too tempting to resist.

Euro 2016Spain vs Turkey (8pm)

Match Betting: Spain 14/5, Draw 18/5, Turkey 9/1

Spain’s defence closed out qualifying in mean style with 4 consecutive clean-sheets and, despite some dodgy friendlies in between, their defence produced another clean sheet in defeating the Czech Republic. The Turks are probably a better side than the Czechs but, having failed to breach the Croatian defence in their first game, it might be more of the same here. Spain are 6/5 to win to nil, and that looks a fair price.
