Dynaste Can Blast Charlie Hall Rivals

Dynaste Can Blast Charlie Hall Rivals

The Charlie Hall Chase is traditionally the first big 3-mile chase of the season, and this year’s renewal certainly isn’t lacking on class with last year’s Grand National hero Many Clouds making his seasonal debut.

Wetherby Races

The last 10 winners have all been aged between 6 and 9, with four 8-year-olds, three 9-year-olds, two 6-year-olds and one 7-year-old being victorious. Of the represented trainers, Phillip Hobbs, Martin Pipe and Paul Nicholls have all won it once in the last decade, whilst jockeys Paddy Brennan and Richard Johnson have also won it once.

Seven runner are set to go to post in what should be a fascinating contest, so check out our analysis and tip below.

Many Clouds

Not many recent Grand National winners have even won another race, but Oliver Sherwood’s 8-y-o could certainly change that. However he’s probably need further, and has to give weight to some seriously good horses.

Menorah

Last year’s winner bids to become the first 10-y-o to win it in a while, and this looks a much tougher contest potentially than last year’s. The Hobbs stable is in cracking form though.

Sam Winner

Started last season well but never looked good enough in the top-quality races. Burdened with the maximum penalty and he’ll have to have made massive strides over the winter to win this, though is an 8-year-old from the Nicholls stable.

Holywell

His 4th in last year’s Gold Cup is probably the best piece of form on offer but, though he gets weight off Many Clouds, Menorah and Sam Winner, he’s always been much better in the spring.

Ballynagour

Would have every chance on his second to Silviniaco Conti at Aintree, and looked sure to finish in front of Cue Card off level-weights at Punchestown last year. However he’s another horse who seems to thrive in the spring.

Cue Card

If he turns up in the form he showed when winning the 2013 Betfair Chase he would win this, but the truth is he hasn’t looked anywhere near the same horse since returning from injury. Stable in good form and gets weight off 4 of the principals.

Dynaste

Interesting that David Pipe has given him an outing over hurdles in France, and that should have got him cherry ripe for a race that could suit. Officially 3lb or more well in with all his rivals, and this is a real chance for him to notch-up his first win since winning the 2014 Ryan Air Chase.

Tip

This is a must watch race for any National Hunt enthusiast and, though it would be no great surprise to see any of the 7 win, it looks a real opportunity for Dynaste to get back to winnings ways.
