Form and Predictions
Apart from the filly SEABROOK, all of the gallopers are colts and will be carrying 56.5 kg in this 3yo Group 1 event at Rosehill. This race is used as a springboard for future Group races appearing further along in the Spring, the main target being the Caulfield Guineas.
When compared to last year’s crop of three-year-olds, the gallopers lined up for Saturday are probably a notch below, but still, there are two Group 1 winners from last season.
One of those was THE AUTUMN SUN, who won the J.J Atkins Stakes back in June up in Brisbane. He resumed with a third and will be much better fr the run. Should be there when the whips are cracking.
SEABROOK is the other Group 1 winner, taking out the coveted ATC Champagne Stakes during the Sydney Autumn Carnival. She is a very honest filly and is well primed for a big run.
Local colt GRAFF is likely to be race-day favourite. Has solid form, and there’s a lot of upside to his credentials. Sat three-wide in his last race (see video below). Still, a definite anchor bet.
Watching the lead-up race Run To The Rose (video below), the run of eventual winner LEAN MEAN MACHINE was astounding. If he can recapture that form in this Saturday’s race, it could make for spectacular viewing.
JONKER was a decent juvenile in the months leading up to the Golden Slipper, but was forced off the track for months after an incident in the Magic Millions shunted him into the running rail. He’s now starting to recapture some of that early form. One for a place bet.
Local NSW galloper SANDBAR has been building a nice little record over the last twelve months. Didn’t quite handle the wet track in the Run To The Rose last start and might appreciate the better track conditions expected this Saturday.
Betting Gods Picks
Lean Mean Machine, Seabrook, The Autumn Sun
