City, Liverpool And Arsenal All Look Too Short

City, Liverpool And Arsenal All Look Too Short

Manchester United are in the Europa League Final, and it maybe that their efforts are concentrated on that over the final few weeks of the season, leaving Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal to battle it out to see who finishes third, fourth and fifth. Liverpool currently have 70 points, but have played one more game than Man City (69 points) and Arsenal (66 points), as they respectively take on West Ham, Leicester and Stoke this weekend.

Manchester City vs Leicester (Saturday 12.30)

City may have the most to play for but are they up to grabbing a Champions League place? Their recent record against Leicester is far from enticing with two defeats and a draw in their last 3, and Leicester are playing better now then when winning the reverse fixture 4-2 earlier in the season, and will be targeting eighth place having looked potential relegation candidates two months ago. I think there will be plenty of goals in the game, but so do the bookies with quotes of just 10/11 for there to be more than 3.5 goals. Therefore, the 12/1 for a Leicester win is big enough to tempt me in.

Stoke vs Arsenal (Saturday 5.30)

Arsenal will wish this match was at home having won their last 15 games against Stoke at home. However, it’s a completely different story away from home, with no wins in 6, with 3 draws and 3 wins for Stoke. Stoke have also only lost 4 of their 16 home matches this season, though Arsenal will take some motivation that other top-6 sides like Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool have won there. Arsene Wenger usually pulls something out of the bag at the end of the season but, with Arsenal’s record at Stoke being so poor in recent seasons, the temptation is to lay them.

West Ham vs Liverpool (Sunday 2.15)

Liverpool will have the advantage of seeing the results of both the Man City and Arsenal games before they go into battle with West Ham on Sunday, but it might not be as much of an advantage as it looks judging off their recent record against West Ham. That’s because they haven’t won any of their last 5 head-to-heads, drawing the last 3, and losing the previous two. 4 wins in 6 games means Liverpool aren’t in bad form, but the pressure got to them last week as they dropped two vital points at home to Southampton. Meanwhile, West Ham ended Tottenham’s hope of the title last week, and will surely go all out again to inflict more damage to a top-6 side.

West Ham Win @ 17/4 (Various Bookies)
