Can Klopp Master Mourinho?

Published on January 13, 2017 by Tim @ Betting Gods

Manchester United vs Liverpool is the big match in another interesting weekend of Premier League action, and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool can keep-up their unbeaten record against the other top-6 sides this season. We’ve also got value-tips for Spurs vs West Brom, Burnley vs Southampton, and Everton vs Manchester City

Spurs vs West Brom (Saturday 12.30)

Quotes of 1/3 for an eighth consecutive home win for Spurs are hardly surprising, but West Brom have proved a thorn in their side in recent seasons with 4 draws here in the last 5 years. They also claimed a point at home earlier in the season – and 50/11 for a draw looks way too big a price on that evidence.

Burnley vs Southampton (Saturday 3.00)

The bookies are continuing to dismiss Burnley’s decent home form, which is now an impressive 6 wins out of their last 8, especially as Southampton have been beaten by Hull and Crystal Palace away from home already this season. Admittedly, most of Burnley’s wins have come against bottom-half opposition but, they did beat seventh-placed Everton, so I don’t see how they can be 13/5 to beat tenth-placed Southampton.

Burnley @ 13/5 (32 Red)

Everton vs Manchester City (Sunday 1.30)

Seventh-paced Everton probably have little hope of gate-crashing the top-6 this season, but they’ve been holding their own well at home against the majority of the sides above them. Liverpool may have taken all 3-points, but Spurs and Manchester United could only manage 1, and Arsenal went home with nothing. Everton also have an excellent record at home against City, winning 4 of the last 7 all-competition encounters. Meanwhile, City have lost their last 2 Premier League away games – making the case for backing Everton at 18/5 quite a strong one.

Everton @ 18/5 (888 Sport)

Manchester United vs Liverpool (Sunday 4.00)

Manchester United have come out on top in 4 of the last 5 renewals of this fixture and, as they bid for 10 wins on the bounce, it would be easy to make a case for backing them at 6/5, especially as Liverpool have been far from convincing in January so far. However, Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp enjoys a fine record against the big Premier League Teams, and boasts 3 wins and 2 draws against his fellow top-6 opposition this season. One of those draws was against Manchester United but, whilst United enjoy home advantage this time, the two sides also drew at Old Trafford in the Europa League – and a draw may prove to be the value bet at 12/5.

Draw @ 12/5 (Various Bookies)
