Tuesday night’s Watford vs Norwich Premier League clash could go a long way to deciding which division both teams are playing football in next season. It’s surely a must win for bottom club Norwich, who trail the two teams above them by six-points with just five games to go.
Watford are just one-point above the relegation zone and three-points here would give them a chance of survival with their last four games coming against Newcastle, West Ham, Man City, and Arsenal. It’s hard to be confident in a match where the two teams have won a combined one-point from their last five games, but Watford must surely win if they’re to survive the dreaded drop. It’s around 4/6 (1.66) for Watford to win but, with Norwich struggling for goals, the 7/4 (2.75) for Watford to win to nil looks better value.
Goals have been hard to come by for Norwich since the Covid-19 break, with their only one in five matches coming in their spirited FA Cup quarterfinal against Manchester United. But the Canaries are goalless in four Premier League matches against Southampton, Everton, Arsenal, and Brighton. Indeed, Norwich haven’t scored away from home in the League since January 22.
Watford have hardly been killing it either since the Premier League restart, with just one point in four games, but they have at least continued to score at home with a goal in each of their games against Southampton and Leicester. That continued a run of goals at home, which included three against Liverpool and two against Everton before the League was suspended.
Watford also won 2-0 at Carrow Road earlier in the season and, unless the pressure has really got to them, manager Nigel Pearson should be confident of steering his Hornets to victory over the bottom club. Hopefully, the run of Norwich losing away from home to nil will continue, as 7/4 for Watford to win to nil looks the value bet.
