This week’s edition of Monday Night Football pits the Minnesota Vikings (3-5) against the Chicago Bears (5-4) and it a trickier game than their respective records might indicate. Let’s dig in.
The Minnesota Vikings began their season by losing 5 of their first 6 games. On it’s surface that looks ugly but when we take a look and see that their losses came against top teams like the Green Bay Packers, the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans, we see that this team may not be as bad as their record is. From there the Vikings have won their last two games, defeating a tough Green Bay Packers team by 6 before blowing out the hapless Detroit Lions.
The Chicago Bears had the opposite start to this season. They began their season winning 4 of their first 5 games but they were beating up on teams like the Detroit Lions, the New York Giants, the Atlanta Falcons and the Carolina Panthers. The last few weeks they’ve had to step up their games playing teams like the LA Rams, the New Orleans Saints and the Tennessee Titans and the rise in class has been too much for them as they ride a three-game losing streak headed into their showdown with Minnesota.
To me, Monday night’s game looks pretty evenly matched but that’s where the odds come into play. William Hill is offering the Bears at 2.4-1 and that’s good enough for me. The Bears last three games have come against tougher competition and with the Vikings coming off a victory against the Lions, I feel the Bears will be much better prepared to turn the tables on Monday night.
