The Miami Heat face the Boston Celtics in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals beginning on Tuesday and based on what we’ve seen in their previous series, we should be in for a barn-burner of a series. The Heat have defied the odds as the number 5 ranked seed in the Eastern Conference and most recently dispatched of the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks 4 games to 1. The Celtics are the third seeded team in the conference and had a tougher time knocking off the Toronto Raptors playing 7 games and winning that series 4 games to 3. Of course the Raptors are the reigning champions in the league winning last year’s NBA Championship.
We’re siding with the Celtics here. They’re the only Eastern Conference team to have defeated the Miami Heat more than once during the regular season with a 2-1 regular season record. Boston also has a top-five offensive rating for the regular season and to balance things out they’ve got a top-five defensive ranking as well. Only one other team in the league can boast that they’ve got a top 5 offensive and defensive rating and that’s the LA Clippers who are in the midst of trying to knock out the Denver Nuggets once and for all.
