Sunday’s week 8 games feature the Las Vegas Raiders who are 3-3 taking on the Cleveland Browns who are 5-2. While some might compare those records and immediately decide the Browns are the better team, we’re thinking the contrary. Here’s why:
The Cleveland Browns are coming off a 37-34 razor-thin win over the Cincinnatti Bengals who are 1-5-1 this season. The Browns won that game on a last-second play. The week prior to that the Browns were DESTROYED by the Pittsburgh Steelers 38-7. Going back to week 1, the Browns have feasted on bad teams: the Bengals – (twice!), the Washington Redskins, the Dallas Cowboys and the Indianapolis Colts are they teams they’ve beaten. Anytime they’ve played a decent team they’ve been dominated.
The Las Vegas Raiders aren’t exactly winning the Super Bowl this year either but they started the season by defeating the Panthers and Saints and they’re the ONLY team in the NFL to have defeated the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs this season. In their most recent start they got beaten-up by a much-improved Tampa Bay Buccaneers team and we’re going to give them a pass on that one coming off a win against the Chiefs that might have taken the starch out of them.
My thought is that the Cleveland Browns are coming into this game as an overrated team just as the Las Vegas Raiders are arriving as an underrated team and this is the perfect storm for sports handicappers to make some money. Go Raiders!
