Game 5 of the best of 7 series between the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder takes place this Friday evening after the players boycotted their Wednesday night game. The series is tied 2-2 and a key component of the outcome of Friday night’s game could be the condition of former OKC player, Russell Westbrook and his strained quadriceps. Westbrook hasn’t yet played a playoff game for Houston yet due to his injury, but will see how he can recover. He’s working out on Wednesday and see how he feels. The team is taking every necessary precaution with him as to not further aggravate his injury.
Without Russell Westbrook, James Harden has had to step up and become his teams’ main offensive force, but it was apparent by the end of game 4 that shouldering the Rockets’ offensive load was taking it’s toll on the All Star player. Harden missed a few shots badly towards the end of game 4 which is uncharacteristic of Harden.
Chris Paul of OKC has been doing his part to make sure the Rockets get no free passes. He’s been doing a tremendous job guarding Harden and has helped OKC battle back after losing the first two games of the series to tie things up 2-2.
We like OKC to keep their streak alive and look for them to wear out Harden and the Rockets even more. Knowing that Westbrook may not play and the Rockets’ best case scenario is having their recently injured, star player on the floor, we’re taking our chances that the OKC Thunder seizes this opportunity to push the Rockets to the brink of elimination by taking this game and going up 3-2 in the best of 7 series.
