Bournemouth vs Newcastle (Wednesday 1 July) could be a massive game for Bournemouth who will be hoping they can secure three points claim out of the relegation zone with West Ham facing a tough home game against Chelsea and Watford having lost at home on Sunday.
Newcastle will be thinking they shouldn’t be dragged into the relegation battle with 39 points, but the Magpies should still have plenty of motivation with a finish in the top half of the table still a real possibility. The bookies think this will be low scoring game, but there are a few reasons why over 2.5 goals should be the best bet for Bournemouth vs Newcastle.
Confidence must be low at the Vitality Stadium after losing their two post-lockdown games to nil. But Bournemouth have played their part in plenty of games with more than 2.5 goals in them this season. Indeed, before Covid-19 hit, their last seven games had all produced that result.
Newcastle are hardly prolific scorers either but five of their last 12 games have also produced the same result, including when scoring three against Sheffield United in their first game back.
But it’s the recent head-to-heads between the two sides that makes the argument for backing more than 2.5 goals at 11/8 (2.38) or better even more compelling. The last two games between the two sides at the Vitality Stadium have ended 2-2, while Newcastle have won their last two home games against the Cherries 2-1.
It’s taken no longer than 80-minutes for there to be three or more goals on the board in any of those four matches so, though an early goal might be needed to help open the match up, a bet on over 2.5 goals looks the value.
