This Sunday we’ll see a matchup between the Baltimore Ravens (5-2) and the Indianapolis Colts (5-2) and while the two teams have similar records, we like the Ravens to handle the Colts here.
The Colts have one of the top defenses in the NFL but the argument we’re making is that the 5 wins they have, have been accomplished against far lesser teams than the wins the Ravens have. The Colts began the season with a loss to a mediocre Jacksonville Jaguars team. From there they went on to beat up the Minnesota Vikings which we contend was their best win of the season. After that they blew out the NY Jets who are practically a high school football team, they beat the overrated Chicago Bears, they lost to a mediocre Cleveland Browns team and just edged a weak Cincinnati Bengals team before defeating a hapless Detroit Lions team in their most recent win. Quarterback Phillip Rivers will have his work cut out for him this weekend.
The Ravens began their season by blowing out the same Cleveland Browns team the Colts lost to. They then defeated the Houston Texans before losing to the Super Bowl Champion, Kansas City Chiefs. They responded to their first loss of the season by blowing out a weak Washington Redskins team, then doing the same to the Cincinnati Bengals team that the Colts struggled with. They won three in a row after a win against the Philadelphia Eagles but couldn’t overcome the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers last week.
So while their records are identical, it’s plain to see these are two teams on very different levels.
