The 2020 Eternal Fillies’ Stakes takes place at Haydock Racecourse (Thursday 25 June), rather than its normal home at Carlisle. That means that 10-year-trends might not mean too much. However, two trends that look worth bearing in mind for this 7-furlong Listed Race are the last 10 winners were returned no bigger than 11/2, while the last five had all raced between 7-25 days earlier.
Spring Of Love and Wejdan are the only two of the 13 runners not to have raced this season and that might count against them as they take on more experienced rivals. But they are a lot less exposed than the likes of Afraid Of Nothing, Dancing Feet, Final Option, Nina Bailarina, Separate, and Stormy Girl.
Jovial takes a step-up in class and distance after winning her last three races but she needs to take a further step forward. Althiqa also needs to find some improvement, but she can’t be ruled out after winning her two races so far.
Under The Stars finished sixth in the 1,000 Guineas, and she has an obvious chance after fading only in the final furlong there. Her trainer James Tate has been among the winners this week, but her wide draw in stall-14 could be a disadvantage.
Stylistique also has a good chance on her best form but only just won on her seasonal debut and was behind out tip at Goodwood last season.
Boomer is our tip for the Eternal Stakes. She’s officially the top-rated filly after winning twice over 7-furlongs twice last season and, though she finished behind Under The Stars in the 1,000 Guineas, she looks well-drawn here at a course where her trainer and jockey Tom Dascombe and Richard Kingscote have a good record.
