Have you been watching UFC for a while, and feel ready to get in on the betting action?

Or maybe UFC betting is old hat to you, and you’re just looking for some stats to make UFC 211 not just an incredible fight, but an incredible win?

Regardless, we’ve got some great information for you here from the basics to the big names you’re going to see this May.

Read on for a deep dive on UFC betting for UFC 211.

A Quick Background on UFC Betting

There are three major types of UFC betting: moneyline, accumulator/parlay, and prop. Of course, you can also set up a betting pool with your friends under the table, but these three are the ones you’ll find in the community on sportsbooks.

Of course, you can also set up a betting pool with your friends under the table, but these three are the ones you’ll find in the community on sportsbooks.

Let’s get into it.

UFC Moneyline Bets

Moneyline bets are the most popular type of UFC betting.

Moneyline means you simply choose who you think will win, and if you are right, you win.

UFC Accumulators or Parlay Bets

Parlay bets are a riskier option. They can dramatically increase your profits, but it’s harder to win with one than say, a simple moneyline bet.

In parlay betting, instead of choosing one fighter you think will win, you choose many, and put them on a single ticket. To win the bet, every single fighter on the ticket must win. If not, well, as they say, all bets are off.

To best your odds of winning at least something, it’s best to keep your parlays to three to four fighters max, per ticket.

If you like the looks of more fighters and want to add them onto a parlay bet, you can, but a good strategy is to do this to another ticket.

You won’t have the same odds as a huge parlay, but with multiple small parlay bets instead of one large one, you have a better chance at winning each one.

UFC Prop Bets

UFC prop bets are the most specific of the trio. In a prop bet, you bet on not only which fighter win, but in which round, how (via tapout, knockout, or others), if the fight will go the distance, and even more.

If you know the fighter well and follow the industry closely, you can find some great odds on prop bets, because of their complexity and specificity.

Be cautious, though. A lot of online sportsbooks take a steep vigorish on UFC props. Look at competitors to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

Types of Odds and What They Mean

In UFC betting, there are also three major ways to list odds: American/Vegas, Decimal, and Fractional. In this article, we’re going to use the Vegas odds.

Vegas odds work around a $100 bet. The person who is expected to win, the favorite, gets a negative number. The person who is not expected to win, the underdog, gets a positive number.

The negative number is how much you need to bet to receive $100 if the favorite wins. The positive number is how much you will get if you bet $100 on the underdog and they win.

The closer the numbers, the closer the fight is predicted to be.

For example, for UFC 211, Demian Maia and Jorge Masvidal have the odds of -119 and +113. This means if you bet $119 on Maia’s winning, and he does, you will earn $100. If you bet $100 on Masvidal, and he wins, you will make $113.

Now that you understand how to read the odds, understand how to use statistics and trends here.

UFC Betting for UFC 211

UFC 211 will take place May 13th in Dallas, Texas. There will be six pairs fighting: Junior Dos Santos vs Stipe Miocic, Jessica Andrade vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Demian Maia vs Jorge Masvidal, Dustin Poirier vs Eddie Alvarez, and Henry Cejudo vs Sergio Pettis.

You can see all of their odds from a variety of sites here, but we’ll be focusing on the first three of the list, as they are the most anticipated.

Junior Dos Santos Versus Stipe Miocic

While Dos Santos has held the belt in the past, Miocic is the current heavyweight champion. The odds for the two are currently +155 and -175 (The exact figure changes depending on the site you are betting on.), with Miocic as the favorite.

In 2014, Dos Santos won against Miocic, even with an injured knee.

Miocic has shown some improvement, while Dos Santos has lost some muscle. This negatively affects his strength but also improves his cardio.

Jessica Andrade vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk

Jessica Andrade is at +140 while Joanna Jedrzejczyk is at -160.

Jedrzejczyk is coming in with an unblemished 13-0 undefeated record. This helps and hurts her. She has shown incredible success, but fighters nearly never complete their careers undefeated. Each win tips the scales bit farther from her favour.

That said, she still has impressive skills on the canvas. Renowned for her elite striking and tenacity, Jedrzejczyk has a solid four title defences.

Andrade has a pretty good 4-2 record over the past 6 bouts. She has a more aggressive style, which leads to powerful strikes, but can also leave her open to strikers. See her style here.

It’ll be interesting to see Jedrzejczyk’s stony defence against Andrade’s angry aggression in this strawweight title fight.

Demian Maia vs Jorge Masvidal

Masvidal and Maia are at +113 and -119 respectively. They are in the welterweight category.

Masvidal is coming to the fight from a big win over Donald Cerrone in January. This is his third win in a row.

Maia, as the favourite, tops this with a streak of six wins behind him. This includes his domination of Carlos Condit, who he submitted in the first round, winning a “Performance of the Night” bonus.

If you’re looking for confidence to bet on, Maia has plenty. Recently he bet Dana White, the president of the UFC, $200,000 that he would not be able to find an opponent capable of beating him.

Good luck with your bets this season, and, regardless of your winnings, enjoy some awesome fights.
