Australian Horse Racing Tips – Sandown & Rosehill
Published on 11/11/16
Despite the Spring Carnival drawing to a close in Australia, there is still plenty of horse racing action to look forward to this weekend, with full schedules at Sandown and Rosehill among others offering plenty of opportunities for punters to win big at the end of what has been an incredible season of racing action. The Heffernan Stakes and All Our Mob at Sandown and Rosehill respectively are set to be the biggest races of the day, with high class fields expected for both meetings.
KEVIN HEFFERNEN STAKES – 1300M – 04.40PM
With the spring carnival drawing to a close, Robert Smerdon’s Under The Louvre is the favourite for the Kevin Heffernan Stakes at Sandown on Saturday, with trainer Robert Smerdon supremely confident of victory for the six-year-old. Having already won the $1 million Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap in Brisbane earlier this year, Under The Louvre should be well suited to the conditions in Melbourne. Elsewhere, having performed superbly to win the Alfred Hospital BM90 at Caulfield in September, trainer Andrew Noblett is confident that Super Cash can claim another surprise victory. The likes of Lucky Hussler, Illustrious Dad and Faatinah are all favourably offered in the bookmaker odds, and could cause an upset should the pre-race favourites falter.
Betting tips for Kevin Heffernan Stakes:
Outright – Under The Louvre
Each-way – Lucky Hussler
QUAYCLEAN ZIPPING CLASSIC – 2400M – 04.00PM
Chris Waller’s Who Shot Thebarman will look to defend his Group 2 Zipping Classic at Sandown on Saturday, with the son of Yamanin Vital recording a seven-length win with the help of jockey James McDonald last year. Five of the eight runners this weekend will be coming off the back of runs at the Melbourne Cup, with British duo Big Orange and Beautiful Romance among the most heavily backed for trainers Michael Bell and Saeed Bin Suroor. Elsewhere, having performed admirably in the Cup at Flemington, American Almoonqith will be hard to beat this time around, especially given his favourable gate draw. Meanwhile, Three-year-old So Si Bon will look to challenge his more experienced opponents, although the 2400m distance could prove too much for him at this early stage.
Betting tips for Zipping Classic:
Outright – Almoonqith
Each-way – Big Orange
LADBROKES SANDOWN GUINEAS – 1600M – 03.25PM
Faraway Town is one of three fillies looking to become the first in over a decade to win the Sandown Guineas, and despite coming off the back of a ninth-place finish in Melbourne, is certainly in contention according to trainer Matthew Smith. However, Faraway Town will come up against Jennifer Lynch, who beat her at Melbourne recently, as well as favourite Morton’s Fork, in a high-quality field on Saturday. Jockey Craig Williams will team up with Morton’s Fork, and with the John O’Shea trained horse having finished as runner up in the Carbine Club Stakes at Flemington last time around, should go close this weekend.
Betting tips for Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas:
Outright – Morton’s Fork
Each-way – Faraway Town
ALL OUR MOB HANDICAP – 1200M – 03.05PM
After winning successive races at Rosehill before eventually succumbing to Toorak at Caulfield, Moral Victory is the odds on favourite to win in New South Wales again. Elsewhere, having come only narrowly missed out on victory on a number of occasions in the past, Lunar Rise will once again be among the frontrunners here. However, it may well be That’s A Good Idea that places the most pressure on Moral Victory, with the Peter and Paul Snowden trained seven-year-old joining stablemate Snippets Land in a field of just six.
Betting tips for All Our Mob Handicap:
Outright – Moral Victory
Each-way – Lunar Rise
TAB REWARDS HANDICAP – 1100M – 05.40PM
As the most popular race of the day at Rosehill with a field of 14 entries, Elemenophee goes into the race as the favourite having won three on the bounce, as well as running from the inside gate. However, having claimed victory in at Canterbury last time out, Sugar Bay Leaonard will certainly provide stiff competition, along with Highly Geared and the Godolphin trained Infra Dig.
Betting tips for Tab Rewards Handicap:
Outright – Elemenophee
Each-way – Infra Dig
Elsewhere in Australia this weekend, further meetings at Morphetville, Townsville and Alice Springs should provide more than enough options for punters. Beluga Blue in the Fleurieu Milk Company Handicap and Clevfilly in the Jackson Semler Plate are just two names to keep an eye on in the build up to the action.
