An NBA Treat For Christmas 2017
Published on 20/12/17
Christmas season is just around the corner and the world of sporting has got a very busy schedule through the Christmas holidays to commemorate the Christmas spirit. The NBA has always been the sporting league which has had a good Christmas schedule and the 17’18 season is no different. Monday, the 25th of December, will be packed with 5 highly anticipated matchups in the NBA league. No wonder fans and enthusiasts alike are bursting with excitement!
The NBA league officials announced the Christmas day schedule on Thursday and revealed that there will be five highly anticipated fixtures taking place, with each match having importance in how the league progresses. Christmas day will get started by the Philadelphia 76ers as they head toward the Big Apple to take on the New York Knicks at the Madison Square Garden. There is no better way to start off the Christmas day with the young trio, Markelle Fultz, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons ready and rumbling to take on the Knicks at their home turf. It is surely going to be one exciting face-off between Phillie and New York.
The game which is the most highly anticipated in the day is the showdown between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. These two teams have faced off in three consecutive NBA Finals and this will be one intense match up. The Cavaliers managed to stave off elimination when they managed to get a 137-116 win in Friday’s game. This prevented the Warriors from being able to finish the postseason undefeated and stopped them from winning a second NBA title in as many as three years. This titan of a match will start at 9pm on Monday and will take place at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The Warriors are stacked, there is little doubt about that fact and even after what they managed to pull off last season, and they are still being subjected to disrespect. The Knicks do have a great advantage in the form of LeBron James and especially without Durant, the Warriors might be in a bit of a pickle. It will probably all boil down to when LeBron decides to put his foot on the gas, really.
This season finds the Washington Wizards become a part of the Christmas festivities once again as they take on the Boston Celtics. The Wizards are travelling to Boston to take on the Celtics and this matchup will essentially be a rematch of the intense seven game Eastern Conference Playoff series. Boy was that a nail baiting experience.
The Christmas Schedule for the NBA this season will then make its way towards the west with the final showdown taking place between Russel Westbrook and James Harden as the Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Houston Rockets. This will be followed by the matchup between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Los Angeles Lakers in Hollywood to end the Christmas day festivities in the 1027/18 NBA season.
