The Internazionali BNL d’Italia, also known as the ATP Rome and The Italian Open, is an ATP Masters 1000 Event played on the red-clay courts of the Foro Italico, Rome.

Like many of the top events over the last decade or so, it has only been won by the very best players, with Rafa Nadal winning it 7times and Novak Djokovic 3 times, whilst Andy Murray claimed victory last year.

2017 Internationally BNL d’Italia Betting

Nadal 11/10, Djokovic 6/1, Murray 8/1

First Quarter

Andy Murray has retained his number-one status despite a below-par run of form recently and, though Alexander Zverev is a tricky potential early opponent for him, he beat the German teenager easily in straight sets last time they met. Victory in that last-16 match could see him line-up in the quarter-final against Milos Raonic, against whom he’s won his last 9.

Second Quarter

Stan Wawrinka remains an under-achiever outside the grand-slams, and John Isner could prove a thorn in his side early on if he doesn’t bring his best game. However, the second-quarter could be best left to David Goffin, who holds a 4-1 over Marin Cilic, and a has a fair record against both Wawrinka and Isner.

Third Quarter

It remains to be seen how much Dominic Thiem has left in the locker after Spain, but he may still be able to take care of Lucas Pouille. However, he’s not fared as lucky in the draw here with Nadal in his quarter.

Fourth Quarter

Nishikori holds a 3-1 lead over Dimitrov and, though Dimitrov won their last encounter, Nishikori may be better suited to the clay here in Rome. However, both face an uphill task to make it further than the last-16 with 3-time champion Djokovic likely to be their quarter-final opponent.

Semi-Final And Final

Any Murray will be hoping that Goffin makes it to the semi-finals, as he has beaten him on the 5 previous occasions they’ve met. Meanwhile, Nadal was in imperious form against Djokovic last week, and another clay court final surely beckons. A Nadal/Murray final would be a crowd-please and, with Nadal leading Murray 5-2 in their clay court head-to-heads, the Spaniard should make it 8 ATP Rome Titles.
