2017 Beverley Bullet Trends And Tip
The Beverley Bullet (Saturday 2 September, 3.15) is a Listed Sprint run over the 5-furlong course at Beverley. It is open to horses aged 3 and older, though older horses have won the last 6 renewals.
The last 5 winners were drawn no wider than stall 4
The last 5 winners were aged 4, 5, 5, 8 and 10
The last 5 winners all carried 9-0
The last 5 winners had all run 18 to 74 days previously
Brian Smart has trained 3 of the last 10 winners
Fourth last year when drawn in stall-9, and has improved again since with a Listed win already to his name this year. Also finished a half-length second to Take Cover when last seen at this level, and 3lb better off today. In Stall 7.
Possibly better at 6-furlongs, and best form has come on flatter tracks. Chance if handling uphill finish though, and ideally drawn to track the speedy Take Cover in stall-4.
Turf wins have all come at speedy courses like York, Goodwood and Haydock and, though well-drawn in stall-2 to adopt his favoured front-running tactics, he could be vulnerable up the hill in the final furlong.
Not won since winning last year’s renewal, but has been racing in Group Company. Is 2 from 2 over course and distance, but has a wide draw to overcome in stall-11 in a bid to give Brian Smart a fourth winner in 11 years.
Even his best form from a couple of years ago leaves him with something to find, but the way he travelled through the race when winning at York last time suggests he’s worth another crack at this level.
Finished behind a few of these on his last two runs and, though he is 1 from 1 here and loves fast ground, he probably needs to find further improvement to win from stall-10.
Line Of Reason
Looked slightly unlucky when sixth in last year’s renewal, but balance of form suggests he has a few pounds to find.
Ran a cracking race here in 2014 when second to Pearl Secret, giving him and the third placed Line Of Reason 4lb. Older than ideal at 10, but this looks his level after trying to give weight away in handicaps or contesting group 3s of late. Ran an excellent second to Battaash two starts ago at Sandown, and two of the last five winners have come from stall-1.
Excellent course and distance record, but beaten both times he’s run at this level before, and drawn wider than ideal in stall 8.
Go On Go On Go On
Lowest-rated runner who was last in a Listed Race on her last start. Tough ask from stall-9.
The Wagon Wheel
Won over course and distance, but needs a career best by some way having been well-beaten at this level on her latest start.
Mirza may be 10, but that didn’t stop Borderlescott winning the 2012 renewal. He’s also well-drawn in stall-1, has no penalty to carry, raced 21 days ago, and ran well over course and distance on his only previous visit. His second two starts ago behind Battaash also looks as good as any other piece of form on offer.
