What a weekend of action we have to look forward to with the second round of the 2015 Derby taking centre stage on Racing Post Greyhound TV on Friday and Saturday evening, plus competitive open race action on the Romford Dogs to try and work out.
Fridays racing gets underway at 7.25 from Wimbledon, while over at the Coral owned London Road circuit Romford the first race is at 7.31.
The race of the night for me is the 8.42 from Wimbledon, RFS Puppy Derby winner Lenson Sanchez (T1) will be taking on recent Scottish Derby winner Swift Hoffman (T6) in what should be cracker. It’s not a two dog race though – King Dec (T3) is a classy short and more than capable of taking a race like this if leading round. Plus don’t rule out the Mark Wallis trained pair in Evanta Fantasy from T2 and Blue Moment from T4, on the bunny both would go very close.
Other notable runners on Friday evening include the new track record holder Eden The Kid (T4, 7.25), the youngster flew round the track last week and will be looking to repeat the flying 4.79 sectional and make all again. Droopys Nidge will be hard to beat in the 7.39 from T6, and another Irish raider to look out for is Tynwald Rodney in the 8.10 from T4. The middle seed showed massive pace last week and would be a danger to all on the bunny.
For the Premier Greyhound Free Friday Tip I’m heading off to Romford and backing Aero Nemesis from T5 in the 10.26 open race over the standard 400 meter trip. The wide seeded runner will need to break in best fashion with the classy Laughing Gravy on his outside but if he manages to break well and hold that rival early he should lead this field and make all. Rahyvira River (T3) will be heading for the rails at trap rise and could hamper the runner on his inside, any bunching on the inside will only aid our selection who will hopefully be away and gone.
FREE FRIDAY TIP – AERO NEMESIS – T5 – 10.26 Romford
Saturday – 2015 William Hill Greyhound Derby Heats – Day Two
Racing Post Greyhound TV is on air a little earlier than normal on Saturday evening with the show getting underway at 6.15pm. Greyhound punters have eight more heats of the Derby to get stuck into and with the likes of Newinn Yolo, Save The Don, Droopys Ward and Viking Jack all looking to qualify for the next round it should be a cracker. One that appears well drawn on Saturday and should go well is Ibiza Rock from T1 in heat number 16 at 9.07. The early paced railer from the Kevin Hutton kennel went very well over course and distance last week and if coming on for that run he should go very close on Saturday night, it is however a very competitive race with the likes of Beaming Bucko (T2), Blonde Nipper (T4) and King Alley (T5) in opposition.
Sunday – Henlow live on Racing Post Greyhound TV
The final show of the week comes from Henlow on Sunday evening live on RPGTV from 6.15pm, as ever Henlow stages a very competitive mixed card with graded and open races. At this very early stage one that appeals on the draw is Coolavanny Ester in the 8.45 Henlow 550 maiden race from T6. The solo wide seed in the race should have enough early pace to lead this field and kick for home – as ever the price will make or break whether Coolavanny Ester is worth supporting in the market.
