2015 NFL Preseason Week 3 Preview and Picks

Published on August 28, 2015 by Daniel

Houston Texans 1-1 @ New Orleans Saints 0-2 Sunday 4:00 PM EST

Preview

Perhaps the most interesting storyline of the game is ongoing quarterback competition for the Texans. The Texans head coach did announce Hoyer as the starting quarterback for the team, but information from inside the organization indicates Mallet still has a chance to grab the spotlight. Additionally, the Texans need to find a running game without the help of Arian Foster and make some improvements at key positions on the defensive side of the ball.
The Saints are loaded with talent on offense but continue to struggle defensively. They have not produced a single sack in the preseason but hope to get the defensive turned on the right direction this year. While they have not had a win in the preseason, fans should not be too worried. The Saints are always competitive in the regular season but rely too heavily on their dynamic offense. Look for players on the defense and at the tight end position to make their mark during this game

Oakland Raiders

Arizona Cardinals 0-2 @ Oakland Raiders 1-1 Sunday 8:00 PM EST

Preview

The Cardinals have yet to get a win in the preseason. However, their major concern is ensuring Carson Palmer can continue to make it back as the starter and lead the team to success this season. They still need to find a standout player at the running back position and several positions on the defense. Their production in the preseason on both sides of the ball has not been very good and could be a sign of problems.
The Raiders are hoping Derek Carr is finally the answer they have been looking for over many years. Carr will surely begin the season as the starter, but if he can lead the offense and be a long-term answer for the Raiders is yet to be determined. The Raiders defense has looked good in their first two preseason games, allowing just 23 points and registering two sacks.
