It has been revealed that betting company, 188BET has struck a deal with Matchroom Sport to be the main sponsor of the 2017 Champion of Champions Snooker tournament.
The tournament, which will be hosted at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, UK, from the 6th November – 12th November, will feature 188BET as their new main sponsor, adding the tournament to its already-rich portfolio. The operator has also recently struck deals with Rugby League giants, Wigan Warriors, and Silvestre De Sousa, who is a 2017 Champion Jockey.
In a recent statement, regarding the deal, managing director of the operator said:
“I’m pleased to announce 188BET’s partnership with Matchroom Sport. The Champion of Champions snooker tournament is one of the biggest events on the snooker calendar.
“Through our partnership, the 188BET Champions of Champions tournament will reach millions of snooker fans with live television coverage on multiple channels.”
With the addition of being shown live on British channel ITV4, the tournament will be broadcast around the world, thanks to the increased popularity of the sport. It will be available for viewers of CCTV in China, Sky in New Zealand, OSN in the middle east, Starhub in Singapore and NOW TV in Hong Kong.
Barry Hearn, who is the Chairman of Matchroom Sport, has expressed his delight in working with 188BET; he said:
“We are delighted once again to be working with 188BET on what is one of the biggest events on the snooker calendar.
“The 188BET Champion of Champions is a blue riband event, and the millions of fans watching both in person at the Ricoh Arena [and] across the world on live TV, will be in for a treat of world class snooker from the first ball till the last.”
The tournament consists of winners of tournaments over the past 12 months, and will feature four 4-man groups. In each group, each player will play each other, and the player who finishes top of the group will move into the semi-finals. The two finalists will then have to play 19 frames of snooker, with the winner taking home the title, and a cheque for £100,000.
